by Adrian Scamming is a VERY big thing at NeoPets now. People are so obsessed over getting NeoPoints that they just seem to have to scam to get it. Scam. Stupid Crazy Ape Maniac. Or in other words: taking away someone's things by tricking them to fall for something. These F.A.Q.s are to help you keep cautious. This can keep you from being a scammed victim. NNN will help your account safe and secure. These F.A.Q.s are just a small beginning of what it really is. Q. How funny. I'm suddenly logged out after clicking this link. Is it a scam? A. To see, make sure that the address at top is 'NeoPets.com'. If it's some other site, like 'freewebs.com/[username]', then it's a scam. The link took you to a site that makes it look like a login page. Really, it's a scam. Don't fall for it. LIFESAVER: Double-check the address. People actually get fooled sometimes by the domain name. Sometimes, the name can turn out to be NeoPets but with a small mistake not noticeable. (i.e.: neopetz.com) Double check. Q. This guild is SOO cool! They said that if I donate the most in their shop, I can receive [insert rare item here]! Should I donate? A. It's a 50/50 chance of believing that. To make sure it's not a scam for your NP, ask the owner of the guild to put the item in their gallery to prove he/she has it. After, ask the members if he/she has done the contest before and it was trustworthy. Maybe ask if the owner can be trusted. Then, check if the price is reasonable. Q. Neopian Item/NP Generator? Someone asked to use it. I wanna try! A. NO! That will ask you to put your NeoPets username and password. If I'm also right, there is a part where you can put as much NP you want. Well, it's all fake. It's another one of those password takers. Q. I am being scammed! Someone got my password! A. Hurry and change your password. If you succeed, he/she may still be in your account. You can maybe transfer your items to somewhere like a second account. Or hurry and delete your Neofriends. They may try to transfer items to themselves. Deleting Neofriends will disable the option to give items to random people. I may say again to try and transfer paintbrushes to your second account. Because either that, the scammer may try to freeze your account by posting things in the Neoboards. Best to transfer the items. LIFESAVER: HAVE A SPARE ACCOUNT. Make sure you also use that regularly because if you're real account gets frozen or scammed, you have another account to use. Q. How do I protect myself from being scammed? A. Follow the things up top. Also, remember NOT to give your password to anyone, not even your best friend. Remember to check out the other guides about account security. Q. A scammer is threatening me! What do I do? A. Report the scammer. The scammer will be stopped. Threatening you won't stop you from clicking the report button. THIS F.A.Q. IS A LIFESAVER. Remember, this is just the beginning. Advanced or not, scammers are everywhere so remember to keep sharp. |
